Therapy
Life’s path can be difficult for all of us at times. When faced with stressful life events, we can become anxious, fearful, angry and depressed; these feelings then lead us to behave in unproductive ways. The goal of therapy is to identify difficult thoughts and feelings, learn when to accept or adjust them, and create a happier, more fulfilling life.
Most of us can benefit from therapy at some point in our lives. Therapy can teach us life-enhancing coping skills, reduce psychiatric symptoms (e.g., depression, anxiety, mood lability, burnout), improve our relationships and allow us to work through persistent emotional issues. Our experienced therapists can help you deal with fundamental, longstanding challenges or traumas, specific time-limited issues or periods of intense crisis or instability. It is never too late to make change – with some dedication and a skilful, empathetic therapist, incredible transformations are possible!
The West Island Neuropsychology and Counseling Centre has professionals from varied backgrounds offering individual, couple, family and group therapy to children, teens and adults. Like most experienced therapists, we take an eclectic approach to treatment, offering a range of modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), mindfulness meditation, ACT, EMDR and so on.
