Laura Khalil, Ph.D. Candidate

Laura is a doctoral student registered with the Order des psychologues du Quebec, under the supervision of Dr. Catherine Otis, psychologist.

She is currently completing her doctoral studies at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) and has also completed a specialization in forensic psychology at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. As part of her clinical training, she completed her practicum at UQAM’s Center for Psychological Services before continuing her training in the Psychotic Disorders Program at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute. During her training at Douglas, she worked with adults presenting with psychotic disorders as well as a range of co-occurring difficulties such as anxiety, mood and personality disorders.

Laura works with adults experiencing a variety of difficulties, including anxiety, mood-related difficulties, self-esteem, emotion regulation, and interpersonal difficulties. Her therapeutic approach is primarily grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy, while also integrating strategies from schema therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and mindfulness.
Her approach is authentic, warm, and tailored to the needs of each client. She places particular importance on developing a collaborative therapeutic relationship and strives to provide an open, compassionate, and non-judgmental space.

Laura offers psychotherapy services in English and French, in person.
